About This Site

You love food, you want to eat right, but you just can't stop thinking about those decadent and indulgent items you saw on that last cooking show, OR it is one of the food-related holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day) and you have given in to the onslaught of cookies and pie and candy and "Darn it, was that MY button that just ricocheted across the floor?"

If any of that rings true, then this site is for you. If you want to learn some no-hassle ways to put together a week's menu that makes sense to you, then read on. The purpose of this site is to help those who love food that might be a bit on the indulgent side, by translating some of those flavor combinations into alternate recipes to help satisfy your nutritional goals without sacrificing flavor. In order to be interesting, food can't just be "okay". It needs to be GREAT! Planning for and preparing healthy foods can be much easier and less time-consuming than you think, and the benefits are many. Give Tasting in Tongues a whirl!

What you can expect from this site:

  • Tools for meal planning and grocery shopping
  • Feature articles about intriguing ingredients or cooking methods

These items, and more, are available from the navigation bar at the top of the page.

About Me
My name is Paul Gagne, and I am just plain in love with food – the planning, shopping, preparation, nutrition and health, flavor combinations, anthropology, rituals and customs, science, and so much more. There are many people who don't share the same passion, and who view meal planning and preparation as a tedious task that results in more or less the same food, day after day, often from a drive-through or out of packaging. This lack of variety could contribute to serious nutritional deficiencies, obesity, and other medical conditions.

I love talking with people who may be intimidated by cooking or certain ingredients and helping them to see that putting a meal plan together, or even just one recipe, doesn't have to be difficult. My goal is to help people understand that eating healthy doesn't mean eating steamed broccoli and tofu every night.

My heroes include (in alphabetical order)

  • Lidia Bastianich
  • Alton Brown
  • Julia Child
  • Shirley Corriher
  • Erica De Mane
  • Clarissa Dickson-Wright
  • Masaharu Morimoto
  • Sara Moulton
  • Jacques Pepin
  • Ming Tsai

Please note: Before making any changes to your diet, please consult with your doctor or nutritionist first, especially if you have a health condition such as a food allergy, diabetes, Celiac disease, high blood pressure, etc. A "healthy" recipe for one person might not be healthy for another. I am not a nutritionist. No content on this site should be considered medical or nutritional advice. Please read this site's Terms and Condition of Use Policy.
